Advanced Cardiac Life Support is an advanced, instructor-led classroom course that highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care and immediate post-cardiac-arrest care.  It also covers airway management and related pharmacology.  In this course, skills are taught in large, group sessions and small, group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented.

The ACLS Course is designed for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies. This includes personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care, and critical care units such as physicians, nurses, and paramedics.

Candidates must have a current Basic Life Support CPR card when they register and be proficient in the following: • Reading and interpreting electrocardiograms (ECGs) • Understanding ACLS drugs • Bag-mask ventilations

This advanced course highlights the importance of high-performance team dynamics and communication, systems of care, recognition, and intervention of cardiopulmonary arrest, immediate post-cardiac arrest, acute dysrhythmia, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes (ACS).

Candidates must have a current Basic Life Support CPR card when they register. Optional review course work class can be accessed via https://elearning.heart.org/course/423 

After completion of any AHA Heartcode online course, learners must complete a hands-on session to obtain a course completion card. Please contact our office at 203-252-2193 or via email at training@stamfordems.org to schedule a date and time.

Please note that Heartcode courses and RQI complete are different platforms, this session is only for those who have completed Heartcode online courses. 

American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) covers core material such as adult and pediatric CPR (including two-rescuer scenarios and use of the bag mask), foreign-body airway obstruction and automated external defibrillation. This course is for healthcare providers such as EMS personnel, physician assistants, doctors, dentists, nurses, respiratory therapists, and lifeguards who must have a credential (card) documenting successful completion of a Healthcare Provider CPR course.

The BLS instructor led course teaches both single rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both pre-hospital and in facility environments, with a focus on high quality CPR and team dynamics. 

This self-directed course is designed to prepare students to provide CPR, First Aid and use an AED for pediatrics in a safe, timely, and effective manner. The skills learned in this course will help you recognize cardiac arrest, get emergency care on the way quickly, and help the person until more advanced care arrives to take over.

Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Online is the eLearning portion of the Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED blended learning course and is designed to teach students the cognitive information needed for first aid, CPR and AED training. Upon completion of the online portion, students must complete hands-on skills session with an AHA BLS or Heartsaver Instructor. This course provides students with the convenience of completing the course at their own pace wherever they have access to the Internet. It includes interactive exercises and videos to engage students and provide periodic points of knowledge transference, along with audio and transcript for students who may have a hearing or visual disability, and much more.

100% classroom training means students are with an AHA instructor for their entire learning experience. PALS is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that uses a series of simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation, and team dynamics.

The  PALS Course is intended for healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the management of respiratory and/or cardiovascular emergencies and cardiopulmonary arrest in pediatric patients. This includes personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care, and critical care units such as physicians, nurses, paramedics. 

Prerequisites for  PALS:  students should have a mastery of infant and child BLS skills, be able to recognize a variety of heart rhythms • be familiar with different types of airway management tools and how they are used • have knowledge of the drugs commonly used in resuscitation.

RQI Complete ACLS: Self-paced Online Learning

RQI ACLS Complete is a  web-based, self-paced instructional program that uses eSimulation technology to allow students to assess and treat patients in virtual healthcare settings. In this environment, students apply their knowledge to real-time decision-making and skills development.

After completion of the cognitive portion, there is a required skill session consisting of hands-on practice and testing, with Laerdal voice-assisted manikins.  Upon successful completion of the skills test, students will receive a course completion card.

RQI BLS Complete: Self-paced Online Learning

RQI PALS Complete Self-paced Online Learning

RQI PALS Complete is a web-based, self-paced instructional program that uses eSimulation technology to allow students to assess and treat patients in virtual healthcare settings. In this environment, students apply their knowledge to real-time decision-making and skills development.

After completion of the cognitive portion, there is a required skill session consisting of hands-on practice and testing, with Laerdal voice-assisted manikins.  Upon successful completion of the skills test, students will receive a course completion card.

YOU MUST COMPLETE THE ONLINE RQI BLS, ACLS, or PALS COURSE WORK PRIOR TO THE SKILLS SESSION. 


This is the hands-on session with the Laerdal voice-assisted manikins. There is no instructor on site. Upon arrival to the room please log into your RQI account to begin. Please review this quick video on how to successfully complete the skills session. The video components will guide you through the process. Upon successful completion of the RQI Complete ACLS, PALS, or BLS session your two-year certification will be emailed to you. 

Please note that Heartcode courses and RQI Complete are different platforms, this session is only for those who have completed RQI Complete courses.
